ACE 12-Ring CFA Asian Championship Cat Show 2014 (2 days)

The ACE 12-Ring CFA Asian Championship Cat Show is the first CFA show for Malaysia this season. Held at South City Plaza on 20 and 21 September 2014, this show successfully attracted a lot of foreign entries (around 50 cats) from Hong Kong, Malta, Russia, China etc.
The Lagenda team fielded Tuksido and Iftar in Premiership, Ariel and Intan in Championship and Hikayat in the Kitten category. Marley was also entered for the Championship class but had to be pulled out due to injury sustained a couple of days before the event - he had bite marks on his back, probably Putra's doing the naughty boy! (Putra is now placed in a different room). Iftar was the only who was fielded for one day whilst the others entered for both days.

We knew it was a tough fight :
  • Day 1
    • Kittens = 35nos of which Maine coon kittens = 18 nos whereby 7 were browns and whites (Hikayat).
    • LH Premiership = 15 of which 10 were Maine Coons (Tuksido & Iftar)
    • LH Championship = 27 of which 13 were Maine Coons (Ariel & Intan) with brown and whites boys = 3 and Intan being the only brown and white girl.
  • Day 2
    • Kittens = no change as per Day 1 (Hikayat)
    • LH Premiership = 16 of which 11 were Maine Coons (Tuksido)
    • LH Championship = 29 of which 14 were Maine Coons (Ariel & Intan) with brown and whites boys = 3 and Intan the only girl.
Suffice to say, the two days were full of surprises :D. As usual we had fun fun fun and met up with friends from all over the world and made new friends as well. Tiring but fun. Can't wait for the next one. :D

Lagenda Team for Day 1

Here's links to the photos :

Lagenda's Performance

Iftar (Day 1 only) :
  • Ring 3 Melanie Morgan - BoB, Best LH Premier, 2nd Best Premier & 4th Best in Premiership
  • Ring 5 John Webster - BoB, Best LH Premier, 2nd Best Premier & 5th Best in Premiership
  • Ring 6 Larry Adkison - BoB, Best LH Premier, Best Premier & 3rd Best in Premiership
We are very proud to announce that IFTAR GRANDED today and he did it in two shows!

Our new Grand : GP Lagenda Bahtera Iftar Putra.
Thanks to Iman and family for looking after him soooooo well!
This is his second show as an adult

Looking at him in the ring reminded me of Muezza. Wished we had entered Muezza as well :D

Ariel :
  • Day 1 Ring 3 Melanie Morgan - BoB, 2nd Best LH Champion & 3rd Best Champion
  • Day 2 Ring 3 Irina Kharchenko - 3rd Best LH Champion & 3rd Best Champion
  • Day 2 Ring 4 Suki Lee - 2nd BoB, Best LH Champion & 9th Best Championship LH
  • Day 2 Ring 6 Jan Rogers - 2nd BoB & 3rd Best Champion
Ariel (right) and Intan (left) - two beautiful girls for our breeding programme :D
So proud of both of them
And she collected 77 points for the two days, not bad for her first show as an adult :D

Hikayat :
  • Day 2 Ring 1 Carol Fogarty - 3rd Best Kitten
So very proud of this boy - he beat 6 other brown and white kittens to be Best of Colour,
then I nearly fainted when he got Best of Breed. Very happy....
One of my proudest moments - I think he is the first Lagenda kitten that received any award in CFA, and 3rd place to boot! Muezza was best kitten in FIFe and TICA but never in CFA :D

Tuksido
  • Day 2 Ring 2 Edward Maeda - 2nd BoB
Edward Maeda gave me a shock when he placed the orange ribbon on Tuksido's cage. He was berating the poor boy - he is too big, his eyes were no good etc as compared to the BoB. LOL but it was hilarious!

So proud of you too my big boy

Intan

This angel did not manage to get past the colour class, she almost always came 2nd BoC. But one judge initially placed the white ribbon on the boy, then when she re-looked at Intan again, she swapped the ribbon. After the show, I had a talk with the judge and she said that she changed her mind because Intan's ear set was too narrow as compared to the boy. Ouch! Oh well....

All in all, we had a blast. Thanks to the organisers for organising the event, despite some initial setback, the event went as smoothly as ever. Thanks to our fellow exhibitors for participating and contributing to our points (and vice verse). But the biggest thanks were to the Saljus and their intrepid team from JB (Razak, Sally, Su and (oh dear forgot her name)) for helping during the two days. And finally, thanks to Iman and family for making it possible for us to add another Grand to the Lagenda banner by keeping Iftar in good shape :D

We spend the whole morning taking photos of the babies coz they are now around 3 months old. LOL it took me a few hours just to sort out the red and whites - there's 4 from Litter J and 3 from Litter K but after much gnashing of teeth and scrutinising the photos again and again, I think I've managed to sort them out. So here are their photos arranged accordingly :

    • Litter I1 : Brown Patch Girl - Irina Iris (staying)

Malaysia CFA & Cat Fanciers' Get Together

Good fun was had tonight. Thanks to Adilah who came up with the idea to have an informal get together of the Malaysian Cat Fanciers. He he he, we had the door gifts, the prize giving ceremony (for those who did not go to Guangzhou for the CFA Asia ID Award Dinner) and not forgetting the lucky draws and lots and lots of laughter :D.
Then we adjourned to Adilah's for supper :D
So enjoy the photos guys : Photos

Asia ID Award Dinner 2014

31st August 2014 is an auspicious day for us Malaysians, it is our 57th Independence Day. It is also the day that the Lagenda Team proudly accepts our Muezza's trophy for being the 3rd Best Cat in Premiership of CFA ID Asia (Malaysia) at the Asia ID Award Dinner 2014 held in Langham Place, Guangzhou, China. A very, very, very proud moment for us, our very own first litter presented us with our very first Divisional Winner title at a tender age of 2 1/2 years old (ok ok, others have achieved the status much, much younger but we only seriously started last year :D).

Thanks to all our friends and fellow competitors that have contributed to his marvelous achievement for season 2013/2014, thanks to all the judges for using him in the rings and last but not least, thanks to the ever hardworking-but-least-appreciated organising committees for arranging the shows to enable us to compete. :D

We visited the Teemall, Beijing Road, Wanda Shopping Mall, Grandview Mall and a smaller shopping area near the hotel (the name of the place escapes me at the moment). But the dinner was great, we met lots of people and had so much fun. My mum fell asleep at the table (she is 82 years old ok) but refused to go back to the room coz she was enjoying herself (despite being tired). Sara also won the lucky draw at our table :D

Besides taking the award for Muezza, we also took the awards for our friends and came home with lots of trophies - heaaavvvvyyy! And there's one small trophy which surprised all of us - Adilah Roose's Clerk of the Year award - congratulations my dear, we are ever so proud of you :D.

So enjoy the photos of our trip to Guangzhou.

Where are we now?

While sitting here listening to the TV regarding the Selangor political scenario (nothing to watch on tv), I've realised that I have been in the cat world for just over 3 years (since 2011). Bought my very first DLH (Boboy) and got another DSH (Dusky) for free in Feb 2011. Fell in love with the MCOs and got my first pair of MCOs in March for my birthday (Putra and Pearl). Super model Citrus came next in April and Lagenda Cattery was registered on 15 May 2011. We had our first Litter A on 9 November 2011.
Initially we entered only the HHP shows but after a few rounds, we tried the CFA, FIFe and TICA sanctioned shows and I must say we were hooked.
During the 2012-2013 season, our very own DLH was placed 9th overall DLH under TICA Asia Region, he is now known as RW TGM LegendaryBoboy. His picture is still on the TICA Asia Region website -http://www.tica-asiaregion.net/galery.html - Our very first Regional Winner!
Not to be outdone, Putra was Best in Show at FIFE-KKM-Petworld 2012 with Muezza (Putra-Citrus Litter A), he was still a kitten then, as Reserve BIS at FIFE-KKM-Mydin 2012. Muezza went on to Grand in one show at our first overseas trip to the CFA-IDA Show in Hong Kong that season! Putra, Electra (Putra's Dam) and another Litter A boy (Addy Putra) also Granded during this season.
Qitta Catz the Cat Grooming Boutique opened her doors for the first time on 1 February 2013. We added a couple more females and Litters B, C & D came in 2012, followed by Litters E, F & G in 2013.
During the 2013-2014 season, Cempaka Raina (Litter C) and Elrond (Litter E) also Granded, with Elrond granding in one show . Muezza went on to Grand as a Premier and proceed to surpass all our expectation when he was placed 3rd Best Cat in Premiership (Malaysia) to earn our very first Divisional Winner title. And we are very proud to note that he is 5th Best Cat in CFA ID Asia Premiership and overall Highest Scoring Maine Coon premier in ID Asia. To top icing on the cake, he is ranked 14th Highest Scoring Maine Coon in Premiership Nationally http://www.mainecoonbc.org/regwin2014.html (scroll down please -:D).
Not to be outdone, Qitta Catz has expanded to include a training school organised by Feline Groomers . We hope to see more groomers trained by the only two Certified Feline Master Groomers in Malaysia.
The last season was our first campaigning season and man, it was tiring! This season, we will concentrate on granding the older litters but will also see where Litters H, I, J & K will bring us.
Yes after 3 years, we have achieved much - our first RW (HHP), three Grands in one show (2 Lagenda, one Arena), three more Grands in several shows - he he he (2 Lagendas, 1 Arena), Lagenda's first DW and who knows, maybe in two or three years, we will have Lagenda's very own DM and hopefully, one of these days, our cattery will get the Cattery of Distinction award as well. We've also opened our first Grooming Boutique last year, followed by a Training Centre this year. It is good to dream..... Night everyone....

(The above was first published on my facebook)

Yes we had a good time, but we also had our losses. We've had several that had crossed the rainbow bridge - Shah Putra left us at the tender age of 9 months. Then it was most of litter F, followed by 2 of Litter G. We nearly gave up on breeding then, the pain was too much coz they were born alive and lived for a few months to cheer us up with their antics. Nevertheless, we kept on going, for the sake of the others. We have added a couple of males (Marley and Dark Knight) and a couple of females (Ariel and Intan) to see whether we can improve the Lagenda lines.....

The Johor CFA International Cat Show 2014

The Johor Bahru Cat Club (JBCC), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Short Hair Club and supported by Qitta Catz and Feline Stylist, hosted their first ever CFA International Cat Show at Angsana Mall, Johor Bahru on Saturday 22 February 2014. The 4-ring show was held at the Event Hall on the 1st floor of the Angsana Mall, one of the most vibrant hub of Johor Bahru. The judges were Bob Zenda (USA, AB/HHP), Teresa Keiger (USA, AB/HHP), Jim Dinesen (USA, AB/HHP) and Cathy Dinesen (USA, AB/HHP).

As it was the first cat show we've organised, we had our fair share of "problems" and "issues" which were quickly handled by our able Coordinator, Ahmad Shafiq. Nevertheless, once the show started, everything fell into place and the show went relatively smoothly with one or two minor setback. The judges were great, despite the heat, they proceeded with the judging without complaints. (We had contacted Angsana's management but they were not able to do much about the aircondition. And the hot weather did not help.). There were a lot of crowd at Angsana who appreciated that the judges took time to explain their choices of winners.

I did not have time to take pictures but hopefully JBCC and other exhibitors would be posting their collection of photos as well. Some photos are shown below with additional photos here. It was a fun show and thanks to all those involved in organising this event :)
